Festival Houses (“Festspielhäuser”) – Town Salzburg

Main places of events during the annual festivals of Salzburg take place at the foot of the Mönchsberg, in the so-called festival district. The small Festpielhaus was built in 1924/25. The large Festspielhaus was built by Clemens Holzmeiter from 1956 to 1960. The nearby “Felsenreitschule” was built in 1693 following the plans of Fischer of Erlach. The close by “Pferdeschwemme” was designed by Michael Bernhard Mandl in 1695.
