OBJECTS OF INTEREST - TOWN SALZBURG:
Fortress Hohensalzburg – Town Salzburg
The fortress Hohensalzburg, built in the year 1077 by archbishop Gebhard of Helffenstein, and widely extended by archbishop Leonhard of Keutschach (1495-1519) is the largest completely preserved castle of Central Europe. Numerous other buildings and its own church of course are not missing in this fortress. The function of the fortress Hohensalzburg has vastly changed since the end of the 19th century. It’s easily accessible via the fortress track/railway; the trip takes less than a minute. Many events utilize the fortress all year round as well as the romantic courtyard and the bastion.
