| FUN & ACTION - WINTER: Runway rules of the FIS - International Ski Federation: 1. Due consideration of the other skiers and Snowboarders Each skier and Snowboarder must behave in such a way that he does not endanger or injure any other persons. 2. Control of speed and the driving style Each skier and Snowboarder must look where they are travelling. He must adapt his speed and driving fashion to hisr surroundings depending on the snow and weather conditions as well as the density of traffic. In reduced visibility or in heavy traffic conditions a reduced rate of speed should be adopted, especially on the edges and ends of runs and in close proximity of the lifts and cable cars. 3. Choice of lane Choice of lane of the skier/Snowboarder approaching from behind must be made in a way that no driver is injured. Priority is to be given to the downhill skier/snowboarder. A sufficient distance is to be maintained by the uphill skier/snowboarder in order to avoid any unexpected occurrences. 4. Overtaking Overtaking can be undertaken from either side but in each case sufficient distance is to be maintained between the skiers/snowboarders which will allow any unexpected movement. 5. Joining & Starting Joining a run or starting from a stop, each skier/snowboarder must check uphill and downhill prior to making any commitment thus avoiding danger to oneself and others. 6. Stopping Every skier/snowboarder must only stop, apart from an emergency stop, in a sensible place which shall avoid any accidents. A fallen skier/snowboarder must clear the run as quickly and safely as possible. 7. Ascent and descent A skier/snowboarder who ascends or descends by foot must do so on the edges of the ski runs. 8. Understanding the signs Every Skier/snowboarder must be aware of the run markings and indicators. Each run is marked after their degree of difficulty, black, red, blue or green. Everyone can choose the run they desire. Runways are marked by reference boards for danger. If a runway is shut or marked closed, this is to be considered just as compellingly as the reference to dangers. The runway participant should be conscious that these precautions take place in their best interest. 9. Assistance Everyone is obliged to give assistance in accidents. The FIS wants that any person who flees the scene of an accident be punished as would any person leaving a road traffic accident, even in countries where such behaviour has not to this date been punished. 10. Identification Every Skier/snowboarder whether a witness or participant, whether responsible or not must present their particulars in the case of an accident.
